Happiness is at the new bistro in Piermont where al fresco late night dining, lively conversation, fine wines, great food, and delicious cocktails take place seven days a week. I wanted to give our readers a few specific recommendations:
A NEW DRINK TO TRY:
- Pastis, a French Pernod cocktail refresher
MY FAVORITE APPETIZERS:
- Alsacian Pizza, the crust is perfection, the muenster cheese & bacon is a savory pairing
- “The perfect” Mussels, a classic and satisfying broth that is perfect for eating too much bread
ENTREE POINTERS:
- The Cod dish is quite yummy & elegant
- If you prefer your salmon on the thin side, give that a try.
- I would prefer a bit more fat in my Kobe beef burger to make it a bit more succulent
THE SCENE?
- Friendly, lively, casual, lots of kisses from the owners, and an underscore of elegance
- A nice welcome to Piermont
…AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF:
- A new frozen cinnamon confection is due out soon from the pastry chef, keep an eye out for it!
WHAT THE DINERS WANT TO KNOW!
- When are the croissants coming?
- Can we expect a brunch menu?
THE LOWDOWN:

Happiness is the new Sidewalk Bistro, but life (at the bistro) could be even happier if, for example, the “roasted chicken” would more closely mimic the typical juicy (substantial) roasted chicken fare; a bistro/brasserie standby I dare say, instead of the disappointing relatively bland slivered breast, which at a mere 20 inches away, could pass for most anything.
Happiness will get better as consistancy improves. I’ve heard an outstanding rave about the mussels, from a famed Rockland restauranteur of 50 years, yet more than one disappointing grunt from the less fortunates.
We have high expectations of a French bistro, especially one of the first in Rockland and in what better place than Piermont. Hopefully as time passes, as fine wine improves, so will the bistro; it is on the right track.

Mr P (above) seems to have hit the nail on the head. Mix reviews at best. Great decor and bar, but the human scenery gets stale. Food, maybe every other item is “ok” or not. Time will tell and hopefully the outcome will improve. Cheers!
